We are currently seeking a Permanent First Mate to join a 43m Charter Motor Yacht that is based in the Caribbean.
We are seeking a Permanent First Mate for a busy 43m Charter Motor Yacht, primarily operating in the Caribbean. As an integral member of the crew, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the vessel, managing water toys and maintaining high standards of guest service. The role is based in the Caribbean with the vessel’s home port in St. Thomas, and is fully booked for the upcoming season. This is a hands-on, full-time position requiring someone who can start immediately, with proven experience in a similar role on large charter yachts. You will need to demonstrate strong maintenance skills, excellent water toy operation and a positive, all-round approach to yachting, blending expert safety awareness with stellar guest interaction. The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player, capable of managing a chase boat, specifically a Boston Whaler with twin outboards and maintaining a calm, professional demeanour at all times.
Start Date: End of May 2026
Candidate requirements:
- Valid STCW and ENG1
- Yacht Master Offshore (Commercially Endorse) or Higher
- Previous experience as a Chief Officer or First Mate on large motor yachts (35m - 50m)
- Hands-on approach with strong maintenance and upkeep abilities
- Experience with water toys, particularly chase boats like Boston Whalers with twin outboards
- Excellent guest interaction and customer service skills
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to safety protocols
- Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to 'hit the ground running'
- A positive attitude with no room for drama, maintaining professionalism at all times
- Strictly no smoking or alcohol onboard
Package:
